Rose Grimm

Shelter Director

Rose Grimm is a dedicated professional with nearly 13 years of experience in the animal welfare industry. She holds credentials from the National Animal Care and Control Association and has pursued advanced studies with esteemed organizations such as the Oklahoma Animal Control Association, ASPCA, and the Humane Society of the United States. A recent graduate of the Cat Lifesaving course, she has also obtained certification in Contemporary Animal Services through her studies with Best Friends Animal Society and Southern Utah University. 

Throughout her career, Rose has served in key roles, including as a surgery assistant at Wewoka Animal Hospital, a field officer at Oklahoma Animal Welfare, and manager and lead animal control officer at Seminole Animal Shelter. In her spare time, she actively engages in transporting animals across state lines, fostering for rural shelters, and collaborating with local veterinarians and community members to advocate for spaying and neutering. Over the last four years, Rose has excelled as the Director at Second Chance Animal Rescue, forging numerous partnerships, saving countless lives, and deriving immense fulfillment from her impactful work.

Eva Craig

Shelter Manager

Eva Craig is a lifelong Norman resident who graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Studio Art. From a young age, Eva has had a passion for animals (especially exotics!) and adopted her first dog from Second Chance in 2021, a big, sweet boy named Hall. Eva previously worked with Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc. where she nurtured a desire to help vulnerable individuals, assisting the attorneys in Family Law, Bankruptcy, Housing, and Domestic Violence cases. In 2023, Eva applied to work at Second Chance, hoping to help the organization that had brought her so much happiness through Hall’s companionship. She started as a Kennel Technician and over the last year has worked up to the position of Shelter Manager. Eva is delighted to be a part of Second Chance’s team, and loves every one of her “work pets” just as much as her Second Chance alumni pets at home!

Our Board

Corbin M. Walls

President

Corbin Walls is a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma, pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management. Corbin is passionate about the nonprofit sector and has served various Oklahoma nonprofits as a grant writer and consultant in areas such as fundraising and development, strategic planning, marketing & communications, and program evaluation. Corbin has presented papers at the annual conference of the Association for Research on Nonprofit & Voluntary Organizations, he is an author on a report published by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and he has 3 dogs—one of which he adopted from Second Chance as a foster fail—and he loves them dearly.

Dr. Stephen Kaiser

Vice President

Stephen Kaiser has been a member of the SCAR board since 2018 but has been working with the organization for over 30 years.  In 1990, then Warden Kaiser started a prison dog program with dogs from SCAR.  At the time, it was the first prison dog training program in a male facility in the country.  Later in his correctional career, he started similar programs in five states and many facilities.  Stephen received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Kentucky and currently advises SCAR on organizational and human resources issues.

Amy Boaldin

Treasurer

Amy Boaldin is a Wichita State University graduate with a BA in Education. She initially taught gifted students in Wichita, Kansas, for 12 years and later continued her career in Florida, teaching gifted 4th grade for six years. After relocating to Norman, Amy volunteered in the offices of Whittier MS and Norman North HS and served as PTA president at both schools. Her diverse professional journey also includes working as an optometric assistant for her husband, conducting on-site vision appointments in nursing homes and group homes across Oklahoma. Currently, Amy serves as an Admin Support Specialist in Marketing, Communication, and University Events at the University of Oklahoma. Amy's involvement with Second Chance began in 2014 as a foster before joining the board. She has held various positions, including Board Secretary, VP, President, and her current role as Treasurer. Her commitment to the organization stems from a passion for animal welfare and a desire to contribute to a meaningful cause.

Greta Watson-Pigg

Secretary

Greta Watson-Pigg is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Physician Associate program and practiced as a PA for 36 years before her retirement in 2019.  Greta is married and lives in Norman. She loves all animals, especially dogs, and she enjoys golfing, knitting, reading, and gardening. Greta has been involved with Second Chance as a volunteer and supporter for many years, and she currently serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors.

Marilyn Butler

Member

Marilyn Butler became involved with Second Chance Animal Sanctuary in the early '90s while teaching Family & Consumer Sciences. She has a rich history with the organization, having served as the Past President of the Board. Marilyn is actively engaged in fundraising efforts through canister donations and maintains a vendor's booth at Crossroads Antiques & Collectibles two weekends each month. Beyond her involvement with SCAS, she is a dedicated mother to her two sons and their wives, cherishing her role as Grammy to five grandchildren.

Sydney Head

Member

Sydney Head is from OKC. She owns Full Circle Obedience and is a 2nd generation dog trainer. Sydney has been an obedience instructor for nearly 20 years. Sydney grew up with parents who competed in various competitions with horses and dogs. Naturally, Sydney started to ride horses and handle dogs since she was a toddler. Because of early introduction to animals and dog training seminars, Sydney has become an expertise in reading micro and macro cues from dogs and a wide variety of body language. It's Sydney's passion to educate the public on how to connect and communicate with their pets. And it is her mission in the rescue world is to prevent dogs from being returned to the shelter/rescue organization and to have owners and dogs be the perfect match before the adoption is finalized.

Lindsey Helgoe

Member

Lindsey graduated from the University of Oklahoma and has worked in the financial industry for nearly 20 years.  She currently works as a Commercial Loan Officer in Moore. She lives in Norman with her husband and two dogs.

Maeve Lindsey

Member

Maeve Lindsey-Outlaw is an attorney with Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma (LASO). She has worked in domestic violence and housing preservation in her time with LASO. Maeve has just fostered her first dog, has two fur babies of her own, and is committed to helping Second Chance grow its services for folks experiencing domestic violence and their companion animals.

Bailey Koewing

Bailey Koewing is a student at the University of Oklahoma currently working towards a B.B.A. and M.S. in Finance with a minor in Nonprofit Organizational Studies. She has been working with nonprofit organizations for many years. Bailey began her journey with philanthropy by fundraising for organizations like the American Cancer Society and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Development for the OU Food Pantry in addition to acting as the Director of Curriculum and training for the Grant Writers Association of Oklahoma. As a lifelong animal lover, she is grateful for the opportunity to use her fundraising experience for such an amazing cause!

Sheila Nettles

Sheila Nettles, J.D., is an attorney in private practice in Norman, Oklahoma. Her diverse career path includes roles as an elementary school teacher and a representative for a textbook publisher before pursuing a law degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Ms. Nettles has a strong background in child welfare and legal advocacy, having served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure as an ADA, Ms. Nettles focused on prosecuting juvenile, youthful offender, criminal, and child welfare cases, with a particular emphasis on domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect. She has also contributed significantly to various training programs and conferences related to child welfare, including ChildFirst Oklahoma and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) training. Currently, Ms. Nettles' legal practice centers on the mediation of child custody cases and small claims actions through the Early Settlement program of Cleveland County. Alongside her legal pursuits, she serves on the Board of Second Chance Animal Sanctuary and is an active member of the Heartland Voices community choir. Ms. Nettles and her husband reside in Norman with their cat, Mimi, and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Bentley and Annie. They find joy in observing the wildlife that frequents their backyard, including squirrels and birds.

Gaye Wakeland

Gaye has a long history of working in animal welfare, performing roles as a shelter board member, shelter volunteer and forming and operating a 501c3 rescue for deaf dogs in Oregon, called Deaf Dogs of Oregon.  She has also for many years participated in dog training for sport activities such as dog agility, rally, obedience and disc dog.  She has won agility and rally titles on several dogs and participated in many obedience classes with her dogs.  She has been a long-time member of the Humane Society of the United States and was one of the founding members of the Columbia Agility Team and is a member of the Red Dirt Agility Club in Oklahoma City.   In 2009, she, along with two partners, founded Deaf Dogs of Oregon in Portland, OR.  She was board president for this rescue for several years and coordinated adoptions and transport for out of state dogs.  Gaye retired from being a software engineer in 2011 and now devotes all her time to various animal welfare activities, training and showing her dogs, church charities and running her home-based business, White Dog Creations, where she makes and sells products, such as crate pads and breed theme totes, for people and their pets.

Jaquitta Wolfe

Member

Jaquitta Wolfe has served on the board of directors for Second Chance Animal Rescue since 2016. She is a lifelong resident of central Oklahoma where she’s helped raise her two children and countless animals during the last 40 years. She has served as a volunteer for many good causes in addition to Second Chance such as the Moore Animal Shelter and the American Red Cross. Her genuine love and compassion for animals is one of her greatest virtues. These days she divides her time between feeding and caring for feral cats near her childhood home and being Meme to her 4 grandchildren.
