Featured Dog

Hey there. I'm Natasia. Where I go fun follows. I'm about 1 1/2 years old pyrenese mix. My buddy here calls me big and goofy. I think its because I know how to to entertain myself when I'm outside. When I get running around my pen and I can make little dust devils. I like hard rubber toys and will play fetch. I also like to turn fetch into a good game of keep-away. I'm 65 lbs of fun on the run. I may have to learn how to be a little more delicate around toddlers, but I think I would enjoy playing with them. A toddler's brakes are like mine: neither of us can stop on a dime. So come on down and see me. I'll either be outside in my pen saying hello as soon as you arrive or chewing on a nylabone in my run inside. Looking forward to meeting you.

Featured Cat

Levi is a 5 year old domestic short hair that was returned.  He's adjusting slowly to being back here.  He'll give the right people some lovin if given enough time to get comfortable with you.  He loves his ears and neck scratched, but who doesn't.  He's not a picky eater, but he is a slow eater, so you have to make sure other cats don't shoo him away from his food.  He doesn't yet socialize with the other cats, but he has no problem with them being around.  He can be sort of persnickety when picking him up until he gets to know you. Come on in and check Levi out. He'd be more than happy to train you on how to be his purrfect, furever family.

Get Involved

Second Chance could not do what it does without the help of our volunteers!  Although our staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, extra helping hands and hearts are necessary to accomplish the important work in which we are involved.  Every activity you perform, whether directly handling the animals or not, improves the quality of their lives and decreases the length of their stay in our program

Thank You To All That Volunteer

We need volunteers at the shelter: walking the dogs, socializing the cats, cleaning, sweeping and mopping, doing laundry, making adoption packets, doing light office work, and helping with customer service.

We need volunteers at events: at adoption clinics @ Petsmart and Petco, and at major adoption and community outreach events.

Our volunteers are 18 and older, however volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome with parent or guardian on site.

GROUPS: If you are looking to sign up a group of 5 or more people, you will have to come as a group before we open or after we close. On the days that we are closed for business, as a group, you can come anytime as long as the group is signed up on the calender.

When your interested in volunteering at Second Chance you will have to sign up on our calender at our facility. We can't accomodate more than 5 volunteers at a time during business hours. You can also call and set up a time and date over the phone.

To become a Second Chance volunteer, download the application by clicking the link below and bringing by the shelter. Love Dogs, Cats or Both? Want to Volunteer at Second Chance? Volunteers Under 18 years will need Adult Supervision & Liability Waiver Form

Foster Home

Second Chance is always seeking new foster homes for our dogs and cats. You provide a loving home for your foster animal and we provide the supplies and vet care until they are adopted. We review foster home applications and match you with an animal that would be a good fit for your home. If you are interested in fostering a pet from Second Chance please download the Foster Home Survey and return it to us via mail, fax, or email and someone will get back with you as soon as possible to further explain the program. And please remember, fostering a cat or dog isn't a lifetime commitment. It's a commitment to saving a life!
