Feature Dog

Ricky is nicknamed "Little Ham" around here, he has quite the personality! Obviously he's big and strong, but he wouldn't mind being a lap dog if you'd let him.

Ricky has been here at Second Chance, waiting for a family, for over 2 years now. While he loves the staff here, he sure would like to have a home of his own.

Ricky has made a lot of dog friends over the years, he does have a rowdy style of play, so he'll do best with friends that are sturdy and playful. He enjoys playing with rope toys, fetch, and going for walks. His leash manners could use some work, but he does pretty well after that first bit of excitement.

Ricky is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and microchipped. Please contact us about his adoption fee!

Featured Cat

Hi there. Don't mind me. I'm just lounging in MY area enjoying the new shelves the Boy Scouts built for ME. I'm Tina, a one year old domestic shorthair. If you have a sunroom or a big window for me to lounge in, then you're my dream come true. I do come up to greet people when they come into MY area and will accept any lovin' they want to give me, but don't expect me to jump in your lap looking for lovin' - until I get to know you real well. I get along with my roommates here, so there is no problem with other furbabies. I even allow them to sun with me in MY patio.

Get Involved

Second Chance could not do what it does without the help of our volunteers!  Although our staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, extra helping hands and hearts are necessary to accomplish the important work in which we are involved.  Every activity you perform, whether directly handling the animals or not, improves the quality of their lives and decreases the length of their stay in our program

Thank You To All That Volunteer

We need volunteers at the shelter: walking the dogs, socializing the cats, cleaning, sweeping and mopping, doing laundry, making adoption packets, doing light office work, and helping with customer service.

We need volunteers at events: at adoption clinics @ Petsmart and Petco, and at major adoption and community outreach events.

Our volunteers are 18 and older, however volunteers under the age of 18, but at least 16 are welcome with parent or guardian on site.

GROUPS: If you are looking to sign up a group of 5 or more people, you will have to come as a group before we open or after we close. On the days that we are closed for business, as a group, you can come anytime as long as the group is signed up on the calender.

When your interested in volunteering at Second Chance you will have to sign up on our calender at our facility. We can't accomodate more than 5 volunteers at a time during business hours. You can also call and set up a time and date over the phone.

Foster Home

Second Chance is always seeking new foster homes for our dogs and cats. You provide a loving home for your foster animal and we provide the supplies and vet care until they are adopted. We review foster home applications and match you with an animal that would be a good fit for your home. If you are interested in fostering a pet from Second Chance please download the Foster Home Survey and return it to us via mail, fax, or email and someone will get back with you as soon as possible to further explain the program. And please remember, fostering a cat or dog isn't a lifetime commitment. It's a commitment to saving a life!
