Foster Home

Featured Dog

Meet Saphira, a 1 year old hound mix who absolutely loves anything that moves. She is great with other dogs, cats and kids and is a huge fan of snuggle time. She is great at entertaining herself with all kinds of toys and just try not to sit on her as she will definitely beat you to your seat! We had rescued her from the Pauls Valley Animal Shelter where she was found as a stray. She has been with us since May 2017 and will be here waiting for her forever home. Come and adopt this precious, golden eye beauty today and she will make you a great companion!

Featured Cat

Squeak, squeak, meow. That was me saying, "Howdy. How y'all doin?"  I'm a one year old American shorthair. I seem to be a little on the small size, but I do have energy to burn...when I want too.  My favorite times of day: feeding time...duh and the sunny times. I like to lay out on our enclosed patio and soak up the sun. I get along with other cats. I leave them alone and they leave me alone. I don't mind being held, but not for extended periods. Come on down and see me. Be sure to check the patio if you don't see me right away.

Get Involved

Second Chance could not do what it does without the help of our volunteers!  Although our staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, extra helping hands and hearts are necessary to accomplish the important work in which we are involved.  Every activity you perform, whether directly handling the animals or not, improves the quality of their lives and decreases the length of their stay in our program

Thank You To All That Volunteer

We need volunteers at the shelter: walking the dogs, socializing the cats, cleaning, sweeping and mopping, doing laundry, making adoption packets, doing light office work, and helping with customer service.

We need volunteers at events: at adoption clinics @ Petsmart and Petco, and at major adoption and community outreach events.

Our volunteers are 18 and older, however volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome with parent or guardian on site.

GROUPS: If you are looking to sign up a group of 5 or more people, you will have to come as a group before we open or after we close. On the days that we are closed for business, as a group, you can come anytime as long as the group is signed up on the calender.

When your interested in volunteering at Second Chance you will have to sign up on our calender at our facility. We can't accomodate more than 5 volunteers at a time during business hours. You can also call and set up a time and date over the phone.

To become a Second Chance volunteer, download the application by clicking the link below and bringing by the shelter. Love Dogs, Cats or Both? Want to Volunteer at Second Chance? Volunteers Under 18 years will need Adult Supervision & Liability Waiver Form

Foster Home

Second Chance is always seeking new foster homes for our dogs and cats. You provide a loving home for your foster animal and we provide the supplies and vet care until they are adopted. We review foster home applications and match you with an animal that would be a good fit for your home. If you are interested in fostering a pet from Second Chance please download the Foster Home Survey and return it to us via mail, fax, or email and someone will get back with you as soon as possible to further explain the program. And please remember, fostering a cat or dog isn't a lifetime commitment. It's a commitment to saving a life!
