Featured Dog

Gingerbread here, or as my buddy calls me, G.B. I'm a short legged, 6 year old lab mix. I maybe close to that "senior" age, but I'm not feeling it. Although I do get cranky around other dogs, so maybe I'm feeling it a little...just a little. I don't recall meeting a person I haven't liked. I like going for walks, but be warned, once you have the leash on me you better not dilly-dally getting to the door. I'll get you to the door quick and get my good girl walk on once we are outside. I keep my run clean at night, but I need to go out before I eat or IMMEDIATELY after. A girl can only hold it so long. Come on over and let's chat for a bit and get to know each other.

Featured Cat

Sinatra here and I'm looking for a new Rat Pack. So Guys and Dolls come on in and see me and you can be my new Pal Joey.  I'd be happy From Here To Eternity to get a furever home that we are all looking for.  Some times I can a Kissing Bandit, at others I can be The Devil At 4 O'clock.  I'm 3 years old, so still young, especially Young At Heart. So no matter where you live, Street of Dreams or Oceans 11, I have High Hopes that you'll be All My Tomorrows.

Get Involved

Second Chance could not do what it does without the help of our volunteers!  Although our staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, extra helping hands and hearts are necessary to accomplish the important work in which we are involved.  Every activity you perform, whether directly handling the animals or not, improves the quality of their lives and decreases the length of their stay in our program

Thank You To All That Volunteer

We need volunteers at the shelter: walking the dogs, socializing the cats, cleaning, sweeping and mopping, doing laundry, making adoption packets, doing light office work, and helping with customer service.

We need volunteers at events: at adoption clinics @ Petsmart and Petco, and at major adoption and community outreach events.

Our volunteers are 18 and older, however volunteers under the age of 18, but at least 16 are welcome with parent or guardian on site.

GROUPS: If you are looking to sign up a group of 5 or more people, you will have to come as a group before we open or after we close. On the days that we are closed for business, as a group, you can come anytime as long as the group is signed up on the calender.

When your interested in volunteering at Second Chance you will have to sign up on our calender at our facility. We can't accomodate more than 5 volunteers at a time during business hours. You can also call and set up a time and date over the phone.

To become a Second Chance volunteer, download the application by clicking the link below and bringing by the shelter. Love Dogs, Cats or Both? Want to Volunteer at Second Chance? Volunteers Under 18 years will need Adult Supervision & Liability Waiver Form

Foster Home

Second Chance is always seeking new foster homes for our dogs and cats. You provide a loving home for your foster animal and we provide the supplies and vet care until they are adopted. We review foster home applications and match you with an animal that would be a good fit for your home. If you are interested in fostering a pet from Second Chance please download the Foster Home Survey and return it to us via mail, fax, or email and someone will get back with you as soon as possible to further explain the program. And please remember, fostering a cat or dog isn't a lifetime commitment. It's a commitment to saving a life!
