Come out to Dog Days, Sunday Oct. 25 from 11-4 at Reeves Park to have your dog's mug shots taken.  We will be offering Mug Shots for a suggested donation for $5.

Thanks to some very special donors, Second Chance dogs have received their Christmas gifts a little early.  Through a special program, donors can purchase Kuranda beds and have them shipped directly to Second Chance.  This is a great opportunity to give back and actually see your donation at work.  These beds keep our dogs off of the floor of their concrete runs which helps keep them cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and more comfortable all year round! We are still a few beds short, so if you'd like to help out, we've included a link to purchase a Kuranda bed for Second Chance.

Maurice's in Moore held a fun event benefiting Second Chance on Sunday, September 20, 2009.  They held a dog-friendly fashion show to showcase some hot fall fashion and the ultimate accessories: Rescue Dogs!  Second Chance brought about fifteen adoptable dogs to enjoy the fun afternoon.  They strutted their stuff on the runway and showed the onlookers how great rescue dogs are.  Maurice's also held a silent auction to help raise money to Second Chance.

A garage sale, a microchip clinic, and jewelry shopping with your dog!

Please come out and support Second Chance this weekend. We are holding a garage sale on Saturday and would love donations, volunteers and shoppers. On Sunday we are holding a microchipping clinic at Petco.  For $25, you can ensure that you will be reunited with your pet if he gets lost.

Also - Mitchell's Jewelry is holding a Dog Days of Summer Event this weekend. They are showcasing the Best in Show and Hildalgo Trunk Show of enameled charms of all the dog breeds. You can bring your dog shopping with you and take advantage of the free engraving and free pet portraits. They are donating a portion of all their sales to Second Chance. Thanks Mitchell's!

Second Chance has ventured into social networking with our very own Facebook page.

We anticipate that Facebook will be a great way to stay connected to our community and our supporters.  We will be using this website and Facebook to alert people to upcoming events, fundraisers and to help spotlight adoptable pets.

We also added a new Newsletter function to this website. If you are interested in keeping up to date with Second Chance you can do so by email newsletters. 

Charya of Norman, recently celebrated her 12th birthday.  Instead of getting traditional birthday gifts, Charya asked her friends to donate supplies and money to help the animals of Second Chance.  She and her friends brought their donations up to the shelter and spent some quality time with the animals.

Warren Theatres graciously invited us to set up a booth outside their theatre last weekend to hand out information about Second Chance and collect donations.

Warren also put together a great raffle for some really cool movie prizes that helped us raise nearly $500.  We had several adoptable dogs out there to greet moviegoers and it was a really fun day for our volunteers and our dogs.  Here are a couple of pictures from the event. We hope to do more meet and greets like this in the future.

Right now we are in the middle of kitten season.  Most kittens are born between the months of March and August.

We currently have all different kinds of kittens available for adoption, from black and white tuxedo kittens to long-haired tabbies.  Stop by if you are looking for a new friend.  If you already have a cat, please spay and neuter (http://www.secondchanceclinic.com) because there are already too many great cats looking for a home. If you don't have the energy for a kitten, consider one of our loving adult cats that we have at the sanctuary.
